Christen Cieslak

President, Chronicle Consulting

Christen Cieslak founded Chronicle Consulting in 2005 after 14 years of progressive experience in the engineering and construction field working for well-known clients like the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, Maryland Aviation Administration in Baltimore and the Pittsburgh Public Schools.

Just prior to founding the company, Chris served as a Major in the Army Reserves in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait in 2003-2004. She was the Chief of Engineering Plans and Services for the Directorate of Public Works and provided design, contracting and construction management services for high profile, fast track projects including a new fitness center and sports complex, roads, medical clinics, and office space. This work was performed in a high stress, austere environment utilizing foreign contractors.

With the skills she acquired on award-winning projects such as the Pirates Ballpark, and the Pittsburgh High School for Creative & Performing Arts, and from her service in Kuwait, Chris realized that she had technical and managerial skills that would be beneficial to clients requiring highly specialized engineering and project management services.

Chris’s vision for Chronicle Consulting, LLC, is to provide customers with a variety of professional project management, construction management and consulting services coupled with a commitment to sustainable building practices.

Chronicle has brought its talents to bear on a number of high profile projects.  Chris has represented the Sports & Exhibition Authority and the Commonwealth in its development of a LEED-Silver Penguins Hockey Arena.  Chris and her staff have supported the effort to pursue LEED-Silver certification of a career center near Pittsburgh.  Chris continues to provide services to many western Pennsylvania clients including libraries, municipal buildings and schools.  She also continues to serve in the US Army Reserves.

Chris earned her Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1991. She was nominated for the award by Dr. Peggy Johnson, Head of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.
