MEPO Lead Mentor:
General Description: Coordinate all orientation events and play a vital role in the facilitating the overal success of MEPO.
Duties:
• Plan MEPO program agenda and logistics.
• Contact Mentors, Computer Lead, and Design Competition Lead in the summer prior the MEPO.
• Communicate regularly with MEPO Coordinator over the summer.
• Facilitate MEPO leadership meetings each night of the orientation program,, in conjunction with Mentor & Program Assistants.
• Work with the Activity Leader to develop a Scavenger Hunt.
• Provide a dynamic and positive tone for all MEPO participants and staff

General Description: Responsible for all social activities throughout the 3-day program
Duties:
• Contact MEPO Coordinator and Lead Mentor regularly during the summer before MEPO.
• Plan and run muliple icebreakers throughout MEPO.
• Coordinate campus wide scavenger hunt for MEPO participants
• Create a new and exciting activity for the MEPO participants for one of the program nights.

General Description: Plan and implement a computer orientation for participants. Orientation will include introduction to Angel, eLion, Solidworks, Autocad... ect).
Duties:
• Contact MEPO Coordinator and Lead Mentor regularly during the summer before MEPO
• Angel & eLion workshop: Plan a workshop intended to make participants more comfortable with the essential Penn State tools.
• resume, Solidworks & Autocad workshop: Facilitate a introduction workshop.

General Description: Manage the Program Assistant team with preparing various activities throughout MEPO.
Duties:
• Contact MEPO program assistant team regularly during the summer before MEPO
• Coordinate and organize luggage transfer from the hotel to the dorms on the last night of MEPO
• Facilitate effcient operation of MEPO activities.
• Disseminate lead development and MEPO completion materials at conclusion of program.
• Manage Program Assistants to ensure all are on task during the 3 day program.

General Description: Assist with all orientation events and play a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new multicultural engineering students to the campus and Penn State community.
Duties:
• Contact mentees at least three times during the summer before MEPO.
• Attend monthly MEP Monday meetings throughout the academic year
• Maintain contact with assigned freshmen students during their first academic year by attending social activites, Facebook, e-mail, text messages, and telephone contact.
• Act as a resource for incoming freshmen throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

General Description: Responsible for the operation of all scheduled activities throughout MEPO.
Duties:
• Orientation sign-in and luggage drop-off.
• Final day luggage organization, loading, and delivery.
• Create and disseminate a MEPO Pictorial Directory.
• Assist computer lead.
• Assist activity lead.
• Be accountable to the MEPO Lead Program Assistant at all times during orientation.

General Description: Coordinate and plan a design competition for the MEPO participants throughout the weekend.
Duties:
• Direct the Design Competition, which is designed to introduce the MEPO participants to a team environment thorugh an engineering task.

RESPONSIBILITIES (ALL POSITIONS):
All Positions are responsible for attending team-building activities, and program training sessions before the orientation program begins. Positions will provide leadership as follows:
- Assist in the preparation of orientation activities and materials
- Arrive by noon, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, the day before the MEPO program begins, for activity preparation, training, and meetings
- Participate in ALL orientation activities
- Reside in the hotel with staff and students during 3-day orientation
- Attend monthly MEP meetings throughout ‘13-14" academic year and encourage yearlong involvement of MEPO Mentors & Program Assistants
- Maintain contact with the Mentors and Program Assistants during the academic year to gauge their involvement
QUALIFICATIONS (ALL POSITIONS):
All Positions should possess the following attributes:
- Desire to work with students, family, staff and faculty
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Good academic standing
- Good disciplinary standing
- Leadership ability
- Positive attitude about self and Penn State
- Problem solving abilities
- All MEPO Leads must have at least 4th semester standing in Fall 2013.
- Mentors and PA’s have NO restrictions with regards to semester standing.
APPLICATION PROCESS (ALL POSITIONS):
- A completed application and updated resume are due in the MEP Office, no later than February 15, 2013.
- Applicants must be available for a 15 minute interview (if on co-op, phone interview will be set up)on a date to be mutually determined.
