Here are just a few of the ways MEP can assist you as a Prospective Penn State student

Administrative Support: From the day you arrive on campus, you'll have a friend to help show you the way. The MEP staff is here to help you with all aspects of your college experience, from locating financial aid resources to offering career counseling, résumé workshops and other professional development programs.
Advisory Committee: This group is composed of leading professional engineers, many of them Penn State alumni, who provide students with career insight, mentoring, and a ready-made professional network.
Campus-College Connection: CCC works to create a welcoming and supportive environment to help students at seventeen Penn State locations make a smooth transition to University Park and continue on to graduation. CCC provides campus visits, mentoring, book scholarship funds, scholarship opportunities, access to professional and student organizations, and conference funding for students in their first two years of study.
Jobs & Internships:

MEP helps students find summer internships and permanent positions, both on campus and in engineering-related companies nationwide.

Peer Mentoring Program: As a first-year student, you'll be matched with an upper-level student in your major who can answer questions, offer support, and help you kick off your college career with confidence.
Research Opportunites: The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) provides minority engineering and science students a chance to do research with faculty, publish and present final research papers, and attend a national conference.
Résumé Workshop & CD: Students attend a workshop to create or revise a résumé for the corporate résumé CD. Also included are a great dinner and a chance for new students to network with upperclassmen to learn about interviewing and other job-search and career-fair strategies.
Success 101: Designed to provide a road map for engineering students of color, this 2-credit course focuses on the keys to success in engineering study.
Summer Bridge Programs: MEP sponsors two programs designed to assist incoming students in making the transition to college. The Pre-First Year in Science and Engineering (PreF) program and the Academic Summer Enhancement (ASE) program involve intensive math and chemistry review, college survival skills, and professional development.
Visit in Engineering Weekend: Visit In Engineering Weekend (VIEW) is a weekend-long engineering program for current high school sophomores and juniors. The program is designed to nurture your interest in engineering.
   
Apply to Penn State!

 

We encourage students to apply for admittance to The Pennsylvania State University early in their senior year. The deadline for early acceptance is November 30th.
