VIEW Staff Positions
Visit in Engineering Weekend (VIEW) is a recruitment program for high school sophomore and junior students which fosters their interest in engineering and introduce them to college. This is the 16th year of VIEW and we are inviting you to join our team!
Program Assistant Responsibilities include:
• Attend Program Assistant training
• Stay at the Days Inn Hotel with VIEW participants from Thursday, February 24th until Sunday, April 27th, 2011
• Escort VIEW students to/from classes, tours, and activities
• Support/Attend daily activities including meals and social activities
• Responsible for general well-being of participants
• Enforce rules and regulations of the program
• Serve as mentors and role-models to students Serve as recruiters for Penn State’s College of Engineering
Extreme Engineering Lead:
• Developing a design competition that challenges the students both creatively and technically
• Motivating and exciting the students about the competition with a creative story line that goes along with the competition. (story line must include requirements for the task by which they will be judged)
• Developing a rubric to judge each of the teams. (there should be points awarded for both technical and non-technical aspects of the design competition)
• Deciding what materials they will need to coordinate the entire competition. (each team should be given the same options of materials to work with)
• Coordinating an interview process that will split the teams evenly.
• Creating packets for each team that include requirements for the project and deadlines for what must be turned in.
• Instructing PAs during VIEW weekend.
• Being present for ALL Extreme Engineering sessions
• Attending the training session prior to VIEW (with PAs), as well as meet with co-coordinators to give progress updates
