Come explore the historic technologies that made America When European settlers arrived in the Americas from the sixteenth century onwards, they may have brought with them ideals of religious and eventually political freedom, but they also brought with them the daily ways of the Old World. In particular, the technologies settlers used differed little at all from those their medieval ancestors used to build up European civilization after the fall of Rome. More than this, the new situation in which these technologies were used led to a wonderful new development: the reorganization of industry and society outside the aristocratic control of Europe. This website is dedicated to exploring some of the core medieval technologies that built the American colonies into an industrial powerhouse in its own right.
