Master Agreements

Master Agreements are ideal for sponsors wishing to build a long-term relationship with Penn State Individual projects are initiated by a Task Order which identifies the project scope, dates, and deliverables.  Sponsors select intellectual property clauses from a menu which offers options ranging from no intellectual property anticipated to licensable intellectual property anticipated.

Penn State's Industrial Research Office is equipped to guide you through the process of beginning a collaborative research relationship with industry.

Master Agreements offer several benefits over the more traditional Industry/University Cooperative Agreement:

Sets the conditions for cooperative projects upfront, reducing administrative
processing of Task Orders;

Limits the risk of technology acquisition through a technology transfer
menu arrangement;

Provides continuity between Faculty Liaison and Sponsor Technical Liaison;

Encourages classroom and student interactions with industry sponsor's
personnel;

Encourages sponsor presence on campus and offers opportunity for
continuous interaction.
