All faculty, staff and graduate students are required to follow the Penn State Intellectual Property Policies and Procedures.   This document will outline some of those policies.  Questions, clarifications or extenuating circumstances should be discussed with the Intellectual Property Office whose contact information is found at the end of the document.

It is the goal of the University to allow faculty and graduate students to freely explore their research interests and disseminate their research results. It is also a goal to allow faculty to freely collaborate with colleagues in the conduct of fundamental research and to allow researchers and graduate students to participate in University research projects. The University must pursue these goals in accordance with applicable laws on publication rights, copyrights, intellectual property rights, export control, and protection of animals and human subjects.
