Members OnlyAct 1 of 2011 (HB377) modified the code adoption process such that no new provisions in the 2012 IRC (and other I-Codes) are automatically adopted. Instead, the UCC Review and Advisory Council (RAC) is to review all new 2012 code provisions and vote as to which new provisions will be adopted in Pennsylvania. The final public hearing to have your voice heard by the RAC is November 9 in Cranberry, Pa; however, interested parties may submit, in writing, their objections to or support for any new code provisions until December 31, 2011. The RAC will then meet between January 1 and July 31, 2012 to make their final decisions and file a report to the Department of Labor and Industry.
The intent of this program is to educate people about potential code changes that could have a significant impact on the residential construction industry. This will enable participants to provide informed input to the RAC, and potentially influence their decisions on which new code provisions to adopt or not adopt.
Presenter: Mike Turns
