The Effective Management of Annual Scholarship/Fellowship Gifts

Presenters:

Betty Mantz, Administrative Aid

Office of Undergraduate Studies, College of Engineering

Nancy Smith, Stewardship Coordinator

Department of Architectural Engineering

Michelle Aungst, Member of Development Staff

College of Engineering

Mary Lee Carns, Associate Director of Development

College of Engineering

Recommended for but not limited to all department stewardship coordinators

The College recently established minimum or base stewardship practices common to all departments and units. During the first thirty minutes, these practices will be introduced as well as recent enhancements to EGSS that provide the department stewardship coordinators a tool for managing/coordinating department stewardship activity.

The College and departments handle over 12,000 individual gift receipts annually. Michelle Aungst will review the processing procedures.

At the College level, certain annual gifts, usually those with guidelines, were accounted for within the Office of Endowment Management. This capability is now available to departments. Betty Mantz  and Nancy Smith will (1) define eligible annual funds (2) demonstrate effective use of the newly established Department XYZ General Scholarship/Fellowship Fund, and (3) share general practices.

The workshop is offered Monday, November 15, 1:30-4:30; and again on Wednesday, November 17, 11-2:30. Both workshops will be held in the Stavely Conference Room, second floor Hammond Building.  Substantial refreshments will be offered during Monday's workshop and lunch will be available Wednesday.

Register by contacting Michelle Aungst, College Stewardship Workshop Coordinator: maungst@engr.psu.edu or 3-3848. Please bring your College of Engineering Endowment and Gift Stewardship notebook.
