The Mall before the Mall

This is what you saw from the old Old Main tower in about 1880. The barns would eventually be torn down to build the University Library after Andrew Carnegie gave $? to build the building which now bears his name. Old Botany was shortly to be built just behind the formal gardens in the center-right of this photo.
