This project is designed to explore interesting technologies in other countries that do not occur in the same way in the US. Some examples are the high-speed trains of France, Germany, and Japan, the Huge Antonov air transport, the dams of Holland, and cell phones in Finland. Simpler, appropriate technologies that are used in developing countries or traditional societies may also be studied. Technologies such as software and manufacturing processes are also germane. The genesis and social context of these technologies will be examined.
