WEP is
made possible through the hard work of a very dedicated
group of people. The WEP office, located in 208
Hammond Building on the University Park campus, is the hub
of all of our many activities. Please stop by and

Amy Freeman
Assistant Dean of Engineering Diversity
Oversees all aspects of the
Women in Engineering Program including planning, developing
programs and funding, recruiting new women engineering
students and working actively with current undergraduate and
graduate students.

Cheryl Knobloch
Associate Director
Coordinates, directs, and develops curriculum for all Women in Engineering pre-college recruitment initiatives (Girl Scout Saturdays, MTM Engineering Camp for Girls) and undergraduate retention initiatives (Women in Engineering Program Orientation, WEP Facilitated Study Groups, WEP Wednesdays). Coordinates and directs career development initiatives for undergraduate women, and enrichment initiatives for graduate women engineering students. Instructs EMIX engineering internship development class, and two mechanical engineering first-year seminars (ME 101 and ME 102). Provides leadership training and development to undergraduate women; serves as Advisor to Phi Sigma Rho engineering sorority. Interfaces with prospective students, parents, corporate sponsors and networks nationally with WIE colleagues.

Helen Edson
Program Manager
Manages all the money and
resources for the program. She has an Associate’s Degree in
Human Services. She has worked in the College of Engineering
(COE) for 6 years and has been with WEP for one year now. She
describes her job as doing a little of everything: handling WEP
budgets, overseeing and hiring of WEP Interns, collecting and
organizing scholarships, and assisting both director and
assistant director with their duties. She also assists Society
of Women Engineers & Phi Sigma Rho with their budgets and COE
accounts. Like both Barbara and Cheryl, she also makes time to
assist students with problems and helps with recruitment and
retention. |
