WEP Research and Scholarship Activities

In order to maintain a high level of program activities for our students and pre-college participants, WEP engages in active research and assessment of programming.

Research Projects:

  AWE-Assessing Women in Engineering, is an NSF-funded, three year project designed to develop effective assessment instruments for Women in Engineering and related programs nationwide. Penn State WEP is a lead institution for this coalition, which also includes the University of Missouri, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Georgia Tech, University of Texas at Austin, University of Louisville, University of Arizona. Rose Marra of the University of Missouri is the PI and Barbara Bogue of Penn State is the co-PI.
  GE Foundation Faculty for the Future Project has provided over $20 million nation-wide in an effort to increase the number of women and minorities in faculty positions in the fields of business, engineering and science. 
  facultyforthefuture.org is a website designed to connect underrepresented candidates for academic positions and study with employers. Initiated by Penn State WEP, it is now a national website.
  Assessment: WEP carries on assessment on all activities that includes pre- and post- surveys of participants and student leaders and retention for tracking and enrollment.
