Career Development Seminar
ENGR 497G Career Development Seminar offers upper-class engineering students information on the tools and current practices in industry. Topics range from communication skills, leadership strategies, teambuilding skills, personal management, etiquette and knowledge about the corporate culture. The seminar will cover a variety of topics and is designed to create a successful transition to the workplace and a successful career. Industry representatives will participate in the course as guest speakers. They will provide presentations in-person and through methods used in industry including telephone conference call and Skype. For more information, please see the syllabus

Corporate Sponsors
The corporations sponsoring this unique seminar are getting our very best and brightest engineering students with a strong pool of women and multicultural students. The students who choose to take the course have the maturity, intrinsic motivation and determination to be among the very best. They realize and understand the importance of gaining the skills and knowledge presented in this seminar before stepping into their first jobs. Students who complete this seminar come out more polished, well-informed and knowledgeable about the corporate culture and themselves as individuals upon emerging into their careers. This seminar is the link to future success in engineering because it bridges their college education with careers in engineering industry. Corporations sponsoring the seminar get name and branding recognition within the College of Engineering (Office of Engineering Diversity website, course syllabus, etiquette dinner highlight, end of semester student gift to corporate sponsor, etc.) as well as access and small group interaction with the students. At least two course topics will be presented by the sponsoring corporation.
