Dean's Advisory Board

The Penn State Dean's Advisory Board is an external advisory group for the Penn State College of Engineering. As such, the Board provides insight and advice to the dean of the College of Engineering and the assistant dean of Engineering Diversity. It provides an institutional presence within the College, ensuring the execution of the roles and responsibilities of the various programs and committees, providing advice and acting as a conduit of issues and concerns that might not otherwise be voiced. Finally, the Board provides the College as a whole with an important active and continuing link to professional engineering practice.

Terms of Membership:

  • Board members are appointed by the dean to serve for staggered, three year, renewable terms

  • Board members attend the annual Fall and Spring meetings and maintain contact with WEP through the assistant dean of Engineering Diversity throughout the year

Board Activities

  • Act as a consultative body for Engineering Diversity and College activities and climate issues

  • Act as a broad institutional presence supporting the effective operation of the Women in Engineering Program

  • Help identify and develop cooperative projects and partnerships that promote and advance the WEP mission

  • Provide feedback and ideas on WEP and WEP-related programs and activities

Member Activities

  • Provide and update information on current trends and needs of the engineering profession

  • Provide individual insight and information on current opportunities for women in engineering

  • Help generate support for WEP including commitments of time, contacts with industry, the creation of both short-term and long-term professional development opportunities for women students, and in-kind and financial support.

 

The next Dean's Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for
October 2-3, 2006 at the Atherton Hotel in State College, PA.
