Volunteering
can help you give back and also helps to attract more girls into
engineering and inspire undergraduate women to persist.
Penn State WEP offers opportunities to work with pre-college
girls and boys through day workshops; with Girl Scouts and
Brownies through half-day workshops monthly throughout the
academic year; and with high school girls during MTM, a summer
engineering day camp.
Students
can volunteer for one day or apply to develop and lead a hands
on project in a temporary paid position. Both experiences
are invaluable in providing creative, hands on experiences for
pre-college students. Graduate women participants also
provide invaluable role models for the undergraduate student
leaders who also volunteer in these activities.
