Exploring Engineering

Interested in engineering?  Want to find out more?

These pages are designed to help you explore engineering and see what exciting opportunities engineering can offer you.

Excitement:

Engineering is an exciting profession and one that can provide you with endless opportunities.  Engineers pursue a variety of careers: project and people managers, product designers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, presidents of companies, technical sales -- just about anything you can imagine!

Choices:

Engineers have so many because of the kind of education they get.  In engineering you learn to solve problems, work with teams of people, communicate your ideas, manage time and projects and gain great confidence in your skills.  Who wouldn't want to hire you?

Women and Girls:

Women have great opportunities in engineering as well.  Employers realize that they bring extra value to the workplace.  Also, with an engineering degree you are in demand so when you are ready to consider a family, you have more flexibility in your work hours and choices.

So explore with us.  In these pages you will find:

  • Girl Scout Saturday Workshops -- WEP Girl Scout Saturdays bring girls to campus approximately once a month from September to May for hands on experience ranging from rocketry to car repair to new product design.
  • MTM Engineering Camp -- is a one week summer day camp for high school that explores a different interdisciplinary engineering topic each day through hands on projects ranging from building and testing an EKG machine to exploring alternate energy sources and sustainable development.
  • Stories about successful women engineering role models
  • Links to other engineering opportunities
  • Information for teachers, parents and scout leaders
