WEPO |
WEPO is an exciting three-day, interactive orientation program for Penn State incoming first-year engineers and to the enginnering career path. It is designed to introduce students to the College of Engineering to Penn State. Students will take part in many activities, seminars, and workshops that will not only prepare them for success inside the classroom, but will also prepare them for a successful career in engineering. You also get to move into your residence hall ahead of other Univeristy Park students.

- Get a head start on the Penn State software,on-line course management system and elion.
- Network with College of Engineering faculty,staff and students.
- Build community.
- Benefit from upper-level Women Engineering Program (WEP) mentors.
- Make new friends with incoming engineering students, before the fall semester begins.
- Participate in fun activities geared to prepare you for success at Penn State.
All activities, room, and board during WEPO are provideed by the Penn State Women in Engineering Program (WEP). Participants pay only a $150 registration fee. (Fee waivers are available for those with demonstrated financial need.)
The application deadline is June 9, 2013.
The Lead Mentor, Lead Rover, and Activity Leader positions are outstanding opportunities for selected woman engineering student to refine leadership skills, and to network professionally. These women represent Penn State and serve as a resource and role model for the Leadership Team, new students and their families about Penn State, WEP Programs. These leaders play a vital role in facilitating the overall success of the orientation!
The WEPO Mentor position is an outstanding opportunity for any upper-level woman engineering student interested in gaining leadership experience and skills, and enhancing her professional marketability. Each WEPO Mentor represents Penn State and leads a group of 5-
6 participants. She serves as a year-long resource and conveys information to new students and their families about Penn State, WEP Programs, and student services. Mentors play a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new engineering students to higher education and to the Penn State community.
During the orientation, participants will also have the opportunity to interact with our WEPO Rovers. MEPO Rovers serve as a "go-to person" all throughout the orientation. They are engineering students who have completed at least their first year in engineering and are in great standing. They play a vital role in facilitating the logistical success of the orientation. We encourage all participants to talk to them about their experiences as they have all successfully accomplished what YOU (the participant) will experience in your first year in engineering at Penn State!
