"Why should I give up my last three summer days before I start classes?" Here's why past WEPO participants did it - and why you should, too!
"When I walk into a room of WEP women, I sense an ambience of success and intelligence. It is a contagious presence. I want to absorb all the advise and information they have to offer so I can be just as successful and knowledgeable as they are."
Joni Anderson, WEPO '04 Participant, '06 and '07 Mentor, '08 Spirit Lead
"Coming from a small town, I was nervous about coming to such a large campus. Participating in WEPO '06 gave me a Penn State family with a never-ending source of friendship and information."
Khayla Shearer, WEPO '06 Participant, '08 Mentor
"The mentors and rovers were the kind of role models you not only looked up to, but could actually be like. My mentor even had internships at NASA."
Alessa Makuch, WEPO '07 Participant, '08 Rover
"WEPO did a phenomenal job preparing me for my first year as a women engineering student at Penn State. I was able to see firsthand how much the program improved my college experience and engineering studies."
Lauren Heisey, WEPO '07 Participant, '08 Rover, Penn State Harrisburg
"Meeting the WEPO mentors and rovers, I was exposed to the best women in the College of Engineering. I learned that WEP is like our own family of women engineers and take comfort in knowing I have such a wonderful group to support me."
Samantha Linder, WEPO '07 Participant, '08 Rover
"When I was at WEPO, I had a mentor who started at a Commonwealth Campus and was studying the same engineering field as me. She gave me confidence that I could become an engineer regardless of where I start my Penn State Education."
Marla Palumbo, WEPO '06 Participant, '07 Rover, '08 Mentor
"One of the best things WEPO did for me was convincing me to go to the Career Fair, where I got an engineering internship for the upcoming summer. If I hadn't attended the WEPO meeting, I know I would have never have had the confidence to go to the Career Fair as a first-year engineering!"
Kaylee Damico, WEPO '06 Participant, '08 Mentor
