WEPO Rover

WEPOrover

The Rover position is an outstanding opportunity for any second-year woman engineering student interested in gaining leadership skills and enhancing her marketability. WEPO Rovers represent Penn State. She acts as the “go-to woman” and conveys information to new students and their families about Penn State, WEP programs, and university services. A Rover assists with all orientation events and plays a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new women engineering students to the campus and to the Penn State community.

Responsibilities include:

Arrive one day pre-WEPO, for training
Facilitate the following activities:


    o Directory Photo Station for “WEPO-teers” and luggage ID station
    o All snack/beverage organization & distribution during Orientation program
    o Create and perform “Rover Skit” at closing WEPO program
    o Final Day luggage organization, loading and delivery
    o Create and disseminate a WEPO ‘10 Pictorial Directory Optional early move-in to campus dorms


• Assist Design Activity Leader in preparation of design activities and materials
Assist Computer Activity Leader in computer workshop activities
Assist “Spirit” Activity Leader in execution of scavenger hunt activities
Be accountable to the WEPO Lead Rover at all times during orientation
Serve as a WEP staff member during orientation
• Reside in the hotel with staff, mentors and students during 3-day orientation
• Participate in all orientation activities
• Attend monthly WEP meetings throughout the academic year

Application Process:

Completed application, resume, and one reference typically due in early February
• Applicants must attend a 20 minute interview on a date to be mutually determined. (Interview
can be conducted by telephone for co-op students.)
