Penn State's College of Engineering is seeking candidates for an Assistant Research Professor within the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics. The Assistant Research Professor will conduct research on two-dimensional materials and next-generation semiconductor devices, with emphasis on scalable 2D FETs and CMOS, interface/contact and high-k gate-stack engineering, and monolithic 3D integration.
Responsibilities include materials and process development; cleanroom micro/nanofabrication; dielectric and metal-contact integration; electrical characterization and data analysis; design and evaluation of devices and circuits; documentation and publication of research results; participation in collaborative research and proposal development; and mentoring/training of students in laboratory procedures.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should have demonstrated research experience in 2D semiconductor devices and nanoscale fabrication. Preferred experience includes MOCVD/CVD growth or 2D material transfer, photolithography/e-beam lithography, thin-film deposition, ALD, etching, semiconductor device characterization, MATLAB/Python-based data analysis, peer-reviewed scientific publication, and collaborative research.
Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
