The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. ( is an independent charitable organization that was established in 1976 with a mission to promote the study of material handling, logistics and supply chains by exposing students and educators to the industry through financial support. Since 1976, more than $2 million in scholarships and grants have been awarded to students at 74 colleges and universities.

The Foundation will once again be offering scholarship award opportunities to students who are committed to studying material handling, supply chain and logistics for the 2014/2015 academic term.

Emphasis in production management, industrial distribution, supply chain and/or logistics


For the 2021/2022 academic term, the following students are eligible to apply:

Undergraduate students pursuing a material handling or supply chain career enrolled full time at a qualified college or university in a target program:
o Industrial Engineering
o Industrial Distribution
o Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
o Computer Science related to Material Handling
o Business & Management related to Material Handling or Supply Chain Management

Undergraduate students from programs listed below that have a focus on material handling and/or supply chain management are encouraged to apply.

Undergraduate students may be classified as freshman, sophomore, junior or senior for the Fall 2021 term to be eligible.

Enrolled at any non-profit college or university in the United States accredited by the Council for Higher Education.

All applicants must be full-time students with a “B” grade point average or above in their major.

Applicants must be enrolled in school for the entire academic year (Fall 2021 and Spring 2022) without interruption barring illness, emergency, or military service.

Terms of Award:

Scholarship awards range from $1,500 to $6,000 and are made up of funds from the Foundation and the Howard Bernstein Industrial Distribution Scholarship Program.

Scholarship awards will be announced in April 2014.

Forty scholarships were awarded for the 2013/2014 academic term for a total of $136,000.

o A supervisor from an internship, co-op, employer, etc.
