Daniel Alexander is currently in his 5th year at the Pennsylvania State University studying Architectural Engineering. He will graduate in December 2009 with an integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering focusing on Construction Management. Dan has stayed busy at PSU getting heavily involved in organizations such as Architectural Engineering Institute (formerly Student Society of Architectural Engineers), Penn State IFC/PHC Dance MaraTHON ™ , and his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order.
Over the past two summers, Dan has gained valuable experience through two internships with two construction management firms, Grunley Construction based in Rockville, MD and Sauer, Inc. based out of their Jacksonville, FL office. Both internships provided an in depth look at managing government contracts being carried out on sensitive sites. Historical documentation and submittal processing were the primary focuses of his first internship, while procurement and change management took precedence on his second internship, with both being in a Design-Build environment. Looking over the next five years, Dan hopes to work for a CM firm who is engaged in Design-Build contracts, specifically focusing on companies that are at the forefront of integrating Building Information Modeling into their jobs.
Beyond the classroom, Dan keeps very involved with his free time. He is currently the lone student representative on the University Strategic Planning Council, which has been charged with developing the plan for PSU for the next five years. He also spent time serving as a leader in the Greek community, participating in THON, PSU Homecoming, and serving as the Overall for Greek Sing 2008.Biography
