Structural Concepts & Existing Conditions Report - POSTED 10-06-09
This report studed the existing structural conditions of the The First Albany Building. Included in this report are wind, seismic, and gravity load calculations, prevalent building and design codes, and a detailed description of the structural system.

Pro Con Structural Study of Alternative Floor Systems - POSTED 11-3-09
In this technical report alternative floor systems are investigated for The First Albany Building.  Portions of the structure are analyzed, redesigned, and then compared to one another.  Comparisons included self-weight, system depth, construction, fire ratings, and estimated costs.

The floor systems explored include:

-Partial Composite Beam Action (existing)
-Full Composite Beam Action
-Open Web Steel Joists
-Two Way Flat Plate

Lateral System Analysis and Confirmation Design - POSTED 12-1-09
This report breaks down and analyzes the lateral force resisting system in the First Albany Building.  Direct and torsional forces are distributed accordingly and drifts are calculated and compared to industry standards and code recommendations.  A computer model was created using ETABS and was used for most calculations in this report.  Hand calculations using virtual work confirmed the assumptions made in the model.  Other checks included overturning, stability, and strength.
