RONZA ABOUSAID


Ronza AbousaidRonza Abousaid is currently in her fifth year of study in Architectural Engineering Program at the Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduation in May 2010, she will receive a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering with a focus in the Construction management option. Ronza is the secretary of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and a member of the Students for the Partnership for Achieving Construction Excellence (S:Space)

Ronza started her construction management work experience during the summer of 2008 at ISEC, Inc. as a project engineer intern. The internship gave her the opportunity to work on several different commercial projects. She started with the preconstruction design phase on the West Georgia Health System project and closed out the Florida State University project. This opportunity gave her the chance to encounter the wide variety of responsibilities required in both phases. Some of her primary duties on the job were: preparing and submitting the vendors’ product submittals; obtaining quotes from various vendors, assisting the project manager with administrative duties, material release, vendor follow-ups, coding invoices, monthly billings and change order.

The following summer, Ronza obtained an internship at Gilbane Building Company working on a public elementary school in Washington, DC. Some of her duties there were: gathering and organizing LEED documentations and closeout submittals; aiding in site management activities through daily walkthroughs, involvement in processing RFI’s, RFQ’s, CCA’s, CR’s and amendment approval forms regarding all forthcoming project changes.

Ronza's two internships provided her with working experiences, professional knowledge and insight into construction industry. In the short term, Ronza looks forward to working as a project engineer for a construction management company.
