Student Biography

Mitchell Peters is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at the Pennsylvania State University. In May 2011 he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, with a focus in mechanical systems. Mr. Peters passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam this past April and upon graduation will be granted his Engineer in Training (EIT) status.

During the summers of 2007 and 2008, Mitchell participated in an engineering internship with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. While employed he conducted professional surveys of Pennsylvania state routes with a focus on roadway drainage and guide rail systems. More recently his past two summers have been spent in the maintenance office of his local township and he spent a great deal of time caring for the local recreational park. Through his experiences he has gained valuable knowledge in the conduct of a professional engineering office but looks forward to stepping into the world of architectural based engineering. A future job with a consulting or AE firm will give Mitchell the knowledge and practical experience in the mechanical engineering profession, that will leading him to obtaining his Professional Engineering license.

Beyond academics, Mitchell is involved with a number of professional and student organizations on campus as well as various other activities. He is a standing member of Phi Alpha Epsilon (Architectural Engineering Honor Society) as well as Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society). Among being a mentor for new inductees in Tau Beta Pi, he also is a student member of ASHRAE. Spare time is spent volunteering for THON as a Rules and Regulations member and he also enjoys hunting, basketball, tennis, and any other sport.
