Bios
Dr. Laura Lautz is a Program Director in the Geosciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation, where she works in programs including Water, Landscape, and Critical Zone Processes (WalCZ). Before her NSF role, she was the Jessie Page Heroy Professor and Department Chair of Earth Sciences at Syracuse University, leading interdisciplinary research and graduate training in hydrology and watershed science. PhD is from Syracuse University. I also have a BS from Lafayette College and a Masters in Education from Harvard.
Our second panelist is Dr. Kathleen Boomer, Scientific Program Director at the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), where she leads investments in sustaining vibrant agroecosystems. Kathy’s background spans landscape modeling, watershed science, and sustainable water management. She has all her degrees from Cornell University. She has worked on conservation science partnerships in the U.S. and internationally. At FFAR, she focuses on advancing research that supports science-based decision-making for resilient agricultural systems.
