Engineering Mentorship Program: During the weekend before classes begin in the Fall, over 1,000 freshmen accepted to Penn State by the College of Engineering are paired up with over 200 upperclassmen volunteer engineering student mentors to participate in activities and get to know each other. This orientation gives freshmen two upperclassmen friends to go to for advice about living and learning at Penn State and new freshman friends by their second and third day at Penn State. More Info

Homecoming: ELDU began participating in Penn State Homecoming activities in 2002. This project promotes awareness of ELDM/ELDU at Penn State and helps ELDM/ELDU members become involved with the Penn State and State College community while offering an opportunity for bonding and fun. More Info

THON: Every year, Penn State students organize and participate in the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON), the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Fraternities, sororities, student organizations and independent students join to dance for 48 hours to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund which provides help to families who have a child with cancer. Imagin8: Imagin8 is a weekend-long leadership conference held at the Pennsylvania State University. It is modeled after the coursework taught in the Engineering Leadership Development Minor, and organized by the members of ELDU and ELDM. Imagin8 teaches students important leadership concepts through guest speakers and dynamic activities. More Info

Community Involvement: Organizes community service projects and facilitates leadership training at local schools. More Info

ELDU Projects

The major products of ELDU, besides World Class Leaders, are the 5 projects ELDU facilitates and participates in throughout the year: the Engineering Mentorship Program, Homecoming, THON, Imagin8, and Community Involvement. Each project is headed by a Project Leader and gives members of ELDU a chance to gain leadership experience while interacting with the Penn State and the State College community.
