User Note:

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Paul Parfitt. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

AE 481W and AE 482 Course Reflection

The AE Senior Thesis Project is the most valuable academic experience students encounter in the Architectural Engineering Department. It is the best preparation a student receives for the projects he or she will work on upon graduation. Not only is it excellent design practice, but it also gets students used to dealing with design professionals from various fields. From a structural standpoint, It gave students an understanding of all that actually goes into choosing the best system. For these reasons and many more, I believe that the AE Senior Thesis Project gives Architectural Engineering students of Penn State an advantage over other students entering similar fields.

CPEP and Discussion Board Reflection

The CPEP website was a great way to post our work and share it with others. The discussion board was one of the most valuable tools available to us. It allowed students to interact with design projessionals and provided up to date and accurate answers to industry questions. I found many of the questions and answers posted helpful, not just the ones that I had submitted.
