Joseph Hughes is a 5th year Architectural Engineering (AE) student at Penn State University. He plans to graduate from Penn State in May 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in AE with a focus in lighting and electrical design.

For two previous summers, Joseph has had an internship position with HSA Associates, a mechanical/electrical engineering consulting firm based in Scranton, Pennsylvania. During that period, he studied with senior lighting/electrical design engineers as well as serving as an electrical draftsman. The position incorporated lighting and electrical design for churches, dormitory and other college campus buildings, as well as patient care and residential applications.

Joseph is proficient in various computer applications related to the engineering field, such as AutoCAD, Revit, VIZ and AGI32. He intends to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam this coming spring. In the future, he hopes to use the skills he has learned at Penn State to work as a lighting/electrical designer for a private firm, and eventually start his own design firm.
