Andy Pahwa is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State. In May 2011, he will graduate with a degree in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Mechanical/HVAC Systems. Along with successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam a few years ago, Andy plans to earn his MBA in the near future.
During the past few summers, Andy has accrued a wide variety of work experience through internships. Working with Skanska allowed gave him the chance to experience last phase construction responsibilities of a small project at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Further at Marriott International he participated in design development and standard reviews of MEP and Fire/Life Safety systems of all new Marriott & Ritz Carlton developments; familiarizing himself with a variety of international and domestic building codes. Due to economic challenges, one summer he was able to explore his interest in business, partaking in a Business Development role at Integrity Financial. The challenges from this internship taught him the value of disciplined work ethic and gave him the tools to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment. Last summer, Andy interned with Grunley Construction in the Estimating/Pre-Construction group. He worked on a team, through divisional estimating, on successfully hard bidding over $500M of Government owned and funded projects.
Outside of academics, Andy is an avid reader of non-fiction books, current event magazines and a multitude of newspapers. As an aspiring entrepreneur and techie, he keeps busy with various conventions, seminars and conferences.
