Funding

A wide variety of options exist for prospective graduate students seeking funding for graduate study. The most common means of funding is in the form of research or teaching assistantships, which provide a monthly stipend and tuition waiver. These assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis and students are encouraged to apply early in order to ensure full consideration.

Funding is also available in the form of fellowships. These competitive awards can originate from any one of a variety of sources, including the College of Engineering, the Graduate School, and external agencies. Regarding fellowships from external agencies, some common programs are the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship.
