Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Benjamin Follett. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

Who is Benjamin Follett?

Benjamin Follett is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2008, he will graduate with a Bachelor Degree of Architectural Engineering, with a focus in the design of structural systems. Benjamin is involved in the Penn State Chapter of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers and the Structural Engineers Association.

During the past two summers, Benjamin has had internships with the structural engineering firm WBCM, Inc. and with the Facilities group of the nationally known Michael Baker Corporation.  During his time with both companies, Ben was able to gain valuable knowledge, experience and insight into the structural engineering business.  His time at each enabled him to learn about and understand the coordination and communication needed to design and construct buildings for a wide arrange of clients.  Benjamin also plans on taking the FE Exam this October in hopes of passing the test and gaining EIT status upon graduation from college.  Within the next year, Ben looks forward to beginning his work as a structural engineer in order to gain important knowledge and practical experience in the structural engineering profession and to eventually obtain his license as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Outside of his major Benjamin is heavily involved in Campus Crusade for Christ as a Bible study leader and mentor to younger students within the group.  He also enjoys spending his time playing and coaching baseball, as well as spending time with his friends and family.
