AE481W/AE482 Course Reflection

Throughout the progression of AE481W and AE482, I feel the education I received here at Penn State has gone full circle and grown to new levels. Without the knowledge gained over the last five years, this project would not have been possible and thanks in large part to this project, the same knowledge has greatly expanded.

As a structural option student, I was able to practice and study structural design applications that will greatly help me in my future endeavors. The independent studies coupled with this project provided valuable real world engineering experience and has helped increase my self confidence and ability to work through complex design issues. I also found the value in reaching out and intereacting with industry contacts I've made.

Overall, I feel the AE senior thesis project has helped me become a more humble and well rounded architectural engineer and I'm ready to begin my career.

CPEP Reflection

The CPEP (Capstone Project Electronic Profile) sites we were all required to create and maintain throughout our projects served as a convenient and helpful tool for displaying our work and having a professional online portfolio to use as an aid in our job searches.

The connected discussion boards were a great tool for students to reach out for answers to tough questions we had and the responses were quick and efficient.

Overall, the CPEP sites for our projects were a great way to keep tabs on our work and progress as well as being very helpful for professional purposes.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work inprogress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Joshua Urban. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
