AE 481W and AE 482(897G) Reflection

Senior thesis was a great opportunity to exert some mental muscle into solving engineering problems that required applying the theory that we, as students, have learned over the last 5 years. This thesis class also required its students to go out and learn new concepts on their own, mimicking the environment we face as we graduate and enter the architectural engineering industry. It gave us a pretty decent look into how our industry works, and gave us a chance to communicate with industry professionals. My primary disappointment with senior thesis is that I feel there was insufficient time to truly get our hands dirty with the problems we faced. I could have spent an entire year working purely on my structural depths, and still not have been sufficiently thorough.

CPEP Reflection

The CPEP site was a useful way of displaying and organizing work. It was incredibly helpful to see the work of past students, though I feel it may have also been somewhat detrimental because it encouraged students to follow previous templates instead of interpreting instructions on their own. Using the CPEP site actually helped me brush up my CSS coding skills, because I hated using any program that did the coding for me, so I found this portion of the project extremely helpful.
