Nate Babyak is currently a 5th year Architectural Engineering student. In May 2011, he will graduate with both a Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on structural design and will gain EIT certification.

Over the last few years, Nate has enhanced his in-class studies with summer internships. This past summer, he worked for Cagley & Associates, a structural engineering consulting firm in Rockville, Md. While at Cagley, he gained experience in the various parts of the structural design process from schematic design to construction administration. During the summer of 2010, Nate worked as a Store Development Department Intern at Sheetz, Inc. At Sheetz, he learned how to cooperate with different departments within a large organization and aided in the design of new Sheetz convenience stores.

Outside of class, Nate has worked as a tutor for the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes. This has been a very rewarding position that has allowed Nate to meet students from all over the world while sharing his knowledge of general math and science courses and helping them succeed. When he is not studying or tutoring, Nate enjoys playing sports, coaching, and traveling.

Upon graduation, Nate plans on becoming a structural designer where he can work closely with the other design disciplines. Having participated in both BIM Studio and the IPD/BIM Thesis program, he hopes to use the experience he gained working with the other AE disciplines while working towards his Professional Engineering license.
