WE ARE UNITUS

October 7, 2012

All successful teams require a clear vision. Ours is simple: We build for a better community.

UNITUS is an interdisciplinary building design team focusing on integration, sustainability, and community enhancement.  UNITUS implements Building Information Modeling (BIM) to ease and expedite the building design process through multidisciplinary coordination.  We build for a greener future through innovative building technologies and commissioning practices.  UNITUS creates active and involved communities.  We do not consider the building as our only final product; rather, we design for each individual that comprises the surrounding community.

OUR PROJECT

September 24, 2012

UNITUS is a Penn State Architectural Engineering senior thesis BIM team. The thesis is concurrent with the ASCE Charles Pankow Foundation AE Student Competition. Throughout our final year of study, our team will design the engineering systems for an elementary school in Reading, Pennsylvania, placing a large focus on system coordination and integrated design.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐inprogress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of the UNITUS design team. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web‐based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year‐long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this capstone design course and its requirements click here.
