Welcome to Nick Dastalfo's Thesis Portfolio

The proposed multi-use building at 8621 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, MD will feature parking, residential apartments, and retail space to service the downtown area. The building is a 17 story concrete building which possesses 4 stories of parking, a Cyber Cafe, a fitness center, and a rooftop pool. Over the course of the fall and spring semester I will be studying this building in a variety of ways, focusing my efforts on the structural system.

 

During the fall semester of 2014, I will perform an analysis of the existing structure in the form of 4 technical reports. Towards the end of the semester, I will write a proposal explaining how I plan to redesign the structure of 8621 Georgia Ave.. This proposal will be used in the spring semester of 2015 to guide me through the building redesign. This site will be updated periodically between fall 2014 and spring 2015 to track my work and progress.

 

About CPEP:

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between students, faculuty consultants, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidlines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering.
