Ashley Bradford is currently in her 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2008, she will graduate with an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in structural systems. Ashley chose to pursue Architectural Engineering because of its unique combination of the artistic with the technical, and the curriculum’s integration of such has been an ideal match for her.

During her college career, Ashley held two structural engineering internships with CUH2A, Inc., a large AE firm dedicated to the design of technological and scientific facilities. Here she gained a better understanding of complex structural systems, code compliance, and the structural design process. Most recently, Ashley held a project management internship with Walt Disney Imagineering in Orlando, FL. Holding this position provided her with invaluable experience in managing, coordinating, and overseeing project controls and the construction process.

Outside of academics, Ashley is very involved in university activities. She spent 4 years on the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team, where she performed at all major university sporting events. As a 5th year senior, she is now serving as the team’s Co-Adviser. Ashley has held several positions as a part of the Penn State Dance Marathon, her current role being a Family Relations Captain. She danced in the 46-hour marathon last year, contributing to the $5.2 million raised for children with cancer. In addition to these major activities, Ashley is also an Architectural Engineering Envoy, representing the AE department to prospective students during open houses, and she has served for 4 years as a Leonhard Scholar ambassador for the College of Engineering in the same way. Ashley is an active member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, and currently serves as an officer for the organization. Other activities include the Women in Engineering Program, the Penn Pal Program, and Campus Crusade.

Ashley passed the FE Exam in October of 2006 and will gain EIT status upon graduation in May.
