Student Biography

Shane Marshall is in his fifth year of the Architectural Engineering program at Penn State. He will graduate in Spring 2013, with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in construction management. Shane has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and upon graduation will become an Engineering In Training (EIT), with future aspirations of obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) status.

Shane has worked in many facets of the construction industry. In high school, he obtained an internship through a manufacturing science program, which allowed him to work with a toilet partitions vendor. Two summers ago he worked as an apprentice for a roofing company. Here, he learned how to install a built up roof on an existing building. This past summer, Shane worked for the M. A. Mortenson Company on the Pegula Ice Arena, the focus of this thesis project. Here, he managed multiple trades, assisted with contract awards, and leaned about the overall construction management process.
