Thesis Abstract

Executive Summary

The new 'Home of the Titans' is a 469,507 square foot facility located in Alexandria, Virginia.  Opening its doors for the 2007-2008 school year, the T.C. Williams High School is scheduled for substantial completion in June of 2007.  At that time, the remaining portion of the existing school will be demolished to make room for a two deck, pre-cast parking garage.  Clad in brick and a pre-finished aluminum curtain wall, the three story classroom towers rise 45’-8” above grade with the commons court nestled between the towers.  The multi-height, single story, career technology and musical wings wrap around the East and South sides of the classroom towers.  In an effort to obtain additional LEED points, a roof garden and cistern were implemented into the design, reducing the buildings impact on the environment.
