About Ian

Ian Herron is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University.  In May 2011, he will graduate with an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in Lighting/Electrical systems.  Ian is an active member of several university clubs and organizations, including Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the Penn State Cycling Club.  Upon graduation, Ian will receive E.I.T status with hopes of becoming a registered Professional Engineer.

 

For the past five years Ian has worked at The Grotto Restaurant in Harvey’s Lake PA. Work responsibilities were as a cook and baker .The Grotto is an extremely busy and high pressure work environment as it is located on the waterfront of a popular vacation destination. Over time his responsibilities increased where he was charged with opening and closing the kitchen as well as training and supervising new employees. In addition to his employment with the Grotto Company he worked for 2 years as a summer counselor at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. involved with their summer camp for children 6 to 10 years of age. Duties included planning and leading the children in various activities and self –esteem counseling.

 

Outside of academics, Ian also enjoys many recreational activities.  These include intramural soccer and volleyball, cycling, and building personal     computers.
