Reflection:
Thesis was not the dreaded life consuming project I thought it would be. I understand how it could be like that, but I chose early on not to go for the top prize, and I am happy with my efforts. If I could make on recommendation for future students, it would be to NOT do a partial renovation building. If you are doing the whole building, you have more to work with, but the small scope of my project seriously limited my options. I discovered this when it came time to select breadth studies. I could not change the structure, since it was already in place, and as-builts were not available. I could not do electricity or lighting, because they are my least favorite, and I know it would not have been a good design. I could not make the building LEED certified since that would be pointless to certify less than 1/10 of the building. In the end I chose mechanical and acoustical, and even though I bounced around a lot in what I was actually doing, they turned out okay.
One other thing...I AM DONE!! |
