Amy Leventry:

Looking to pursue a career that would allow her to be creative while utilizing her math skills, Amy Leventry chose to pursue a professional career through Pennsylvania State University’s five year Architectural Engineering Program.  Amy is currently in her fifth year of study specializing in Building Mechanical Systems.  She will complete her Bachelors of Architectural Engineering and minor in Architecture upon return from her study abroad program in Rome, Italy, May 2009.  Amy has been a member of the Penn State Student ASHRAE chapter for three years and is currently holding an officer’s position as trip coordinator for the annual international conference and exposition.  She is also a one of the founding officers of MCAA (Mechanical Contracting Association of America).

For the past three summers Amy participated in mechanical engineering internships.  Her first two summers were spent at H. F. Lenz, an engineering consulting firm where she focused on chiller and cooling tower replacements.  This past summer Amy spent her internship with Burt Hill, an AE firm.  During her internship at Burt Hill she preformed energy model simulations along with excel/hand calculations to diagnosis various shading alternatives.

Outside of classes, Amy participated in the ASHRAE International Design Competition in two different categories, receiving 1st place in system selection, and 2nd place in system design.  She was also a Women in Engineering Camp Counselor, where high school girls who’ve showed excellence in math and science participated in engineering projects of various engineering fields to encourage them into the field of engineering.
