ABOUT JESSICA L. LAURITO

Jessica L. Laurito is currently in her 5th year in Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University.  She is focusing on structural engineering and will graduate in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering.  Jessica is a member of professional and student organizations such as the Architectural Engineering institute (SSAE), Structural Engineers Association (SEA), and the Society of Women in Engineering (SWE). In addition to academic organizations, Ms. Laurito and her dog, Kayla, participate in Pet Therapy, visiting nursing homes in the area, through their church and was one of the first members of the group.

Jessica has worked for engineering companies for the past three summers.  Most recently, she worked for Baker, Ingram, & Associates in their Centreville, MD office working on design of new and existing buildings and residential houses.  Jessica gained valuable insight into the design industry as well as the remodeling and rehabilitation of new and existing buildings. In the summers after her sophomore and junior years of college, Jessica worked at S/D Engineers, Inc. (currently Siemens) in the Architectural and Structural departments.  The experience at S/D Engineers, Inc. helped her to solidify her choice to focus on structural engineering and exposed her to many types of buildings and requirements.  In April of 2007, Jessica passed the FE exam and will gain EIT status upon graduation in May.  Ms. Laurito looks forward to working as a structural engineer performing design and analysis while working towards licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).

As of April 1st, 2009, Jessica has accepted a job with Siemens Energy, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA. She will begin work on June 8th, 2009.
