About Stephen!

Stephen Perkins is a fifth year Architectural Engineering student with a focus on structures. He will graduate from Penn State University with an integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree in May 2010. Upon graduation, Stephen will obtain EIT status and he looks forward to working for an AE firm where he can gain valuable experience in the areas of structural system design and architectural design theory.

Over the past three summers, Stephen has worked alongside professional structural and civil engineers at Hixson, Inc. and Truman Young Associates. Thanks to these internships, Stephen has gained an insight into the structural design process as well as an in-depth understanding of 3-D modeling software.

Stephen is active in several organizations including the Student Society of Architectural Engineering (SSAE) and Habitat for Humanity. He is honored to be a member of Phi Alpha Epsilon Architectural Engineering Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). As a NSCS member, he was provided the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Engineering Delegation to China. This two week visit gave Stephen a fantastic chance to compare his engineering experiences at home to those of a foreign nation.

Outside of structural engineering, Stephen enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking, fishing, skiing, and playing various sports.
