The following top-rated essays were developed by junior/senior undergraduates as part of an essay contests in CE 360. The essay contest encourages students to develop their writing skills and broaden their understanding of the importance of fluid mechanics.  To participate in this competition, students were required to write 5-page essays on a topic assigned for their semester. In Spring 2005 students had to discuss how Leonardo da Vinci's role as a Master of Water and his interests in fluid mechanics shaped his engineering and artistic accomplishments. The Spring 2007 essay required students to address how fluid mechanics has shaped the history and culture of the United States.
