How to Apply

Preference will be given to applications submitted by 11:59 pm (ET) on January 20, 2023.

Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2023 Drawdown Scholars Program.

Important Steps to Submit Your Application

The online application form requires you to log in to the Penn State Web Access. If you do not have Penn State Web Access, please create a Friends of Penn State (FPS) access account and password at accounts.psu.edu.

Once you have created your FPS account, log in at the application website to create and submit your application.

Step #1

Add your biographical data and select research project preferences.

Step #2

Upload the following files in pdf format:

  • Statement of Purpose: One-page (maximum) statement describing why you wish to participate in this REU program, any previous research experiences, and your career goals.
  • Résumé/CV
  • Current Transcript: Unofficial transcripts are accepted.

Step #3

Enter contact information for at least two references. Drawdown Scholars Program administrators will contact each reference directly to submit a letter of recommendation. References will have until February 3, 2023 to submit their letters.
