AE 481W/482 Course Reflection

The overall Senior Thesis class was a worthwhile endeavor. Although requiring an extra year of study, I feel that the benefits of working on and completing such a project greatly outweigh the work necessary for such a project. The ability to research issues and alternatives to an actual building and the contacts and information provided by industry members allows for a better understanding of the professional environment.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

It is my opinion that the CPEP is a great idea. However, the need to submit a hard copy and online seems rather redundant. The cost of producing so many hard copies is expensive and the need to post adds another task to the project. I would like to see the CPEP become the primary source for submissions in which the advisors would download the submissions, print if needed, and review. The new technology that allows for digital markup is already in use within the department and would be a great tool for the CPEP.

I feel that the discussion board would have been more helpful without the requirement to post, and better responses. I posted twice to the board with no answers. The requirement to post created such a large list of concerns and questions so fast, it seemed to overwhelm the industry members. A constant reminder of its existence may prove a better way for students to utilize it. I often found it more helpful to call some one to answer my question than to post it on the discussion boards.
