Megan Wortman's Student Bio

Megan is currently in her fifth year of Architectural Engineering at Penn State University, with a focus on Construction Management.  She will graduate in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering.  While at Penn State, Megan has been involved with a student construction management organization also known as S:PACE (Student Chapter of the Partnership for Achieving Construction Excellence).  In October 2006, she passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.  Last spring, Megan completed an independent study focusing on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 4D Modeling.  During her independent study, she worked with Penn State’s CIC (Computer Integrated Construction) Research Group where she aided in the development of 3D and 4D models.  At the completion of her semester study, Megan collaborated with a few members of the CIC Research Group to compose a Building Information Modeling Case Study, which focused on the models created for the Long and Foster Headquarters Building.  Last year, Megan was awarded the Clark Construction Group- Charles Merica Memorial Scholarship.

Megan was born and raised in the small town of St. Marys, PA.  Megan has two loving parents, and is the oldest of four children.  She attended Elk County Catholic High School where she was one of only 94 students in her graduating class.  When choosing a college, Penn State University was the only option for Megan.  As a young girl, she attended both Penn State football games and volleyball games with her dad.  She immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and knew she wanted to attend the university.

Megan began her studies at Penn State University in the School of Arts and Architecture. As a freshman, she was accepted into the Architecture Program.  During her first semester, she quickly realized that her strengths lied more in the math and sciences rather than in the arts.  It soon became evident that Architectural Engineering was the best fit for her.

Throughout her five years here, she has participated in both women’s and coed intramural volleyball.  This past summer, Megan participated on one of Whiting-Turner’s intern softball teams.  She also enjoys playing and watching a variety of other sports.

When Megan graduates in May, she plans to begin a career in the Construction Industry.  For more information, please view Megan's resume.
